Mystical Lotus isn’t a perfume. It’s not an extrait de… anything. At ~60% concentration, I’m surprised the atomizer can even handle the spray!
Built on top of Blue Kalbar, which was already a luxury perfume – 20+ natural ingredients bolster the creamy blue lily’s narcotic effect.
And here’s where the fun starts…
Since Blue Kalbar forms the base of Mystical Lotus, you get all the orange blossom, amber, civet, and Green Papua that was in the original by default, this bespoke contains an additional 6 grams of my signature blue lotus extract. The blue lotus in here alone qualifies as an extrait concentration!
But we’re not even halfway…
On top of the hefty dose of blue lotus, your bottle also contains an added 2.5 grams of my in-house rose of choice, Taifi Sultani, likely dating to the early eighties, with a full gram of another eighties beauty: Maroke SQ.
And then the whole brew swims in SQ’s ancient ambergris.
These aren’t just random additions. Maroke SQ and Mélange Priveé SQ are the perfect duo on their own, with their pristine herbaceous sultry cool that stands in contrast with the bitter medicinal Nha Trang red.
If you want to capture the juicy facets of the melange against the deep incense profile of vintage Maroke (i.e. the smell of Oud Royale No 1) oozing out of that legendary linear incense tone of pure Nha Trang gaharu, all against the backdrop of blue bliss, then there is no other perfume that’ll come even close.
This semi-bespoke edition goes even further by adding the magical purple glaze of Kelantan, which doubles up on the Maroke SQ with high mountain super king Maroke agarwood to further incense-ifies the succulent lotus core.
Kelantan represents both a class of quality and a profile, specifically the olden-days West Malaysian ouds with their dense purple floral profiles. The additional rose-Maroke fusion with Kelantan in the picture is pure bliss – to then add the mystical lily to the brew gives you a peerless olfactory composition.
And Taifi rose added to the rose already in BK makes all those ouds so diffusive – it’s why the finest old-school mukhallats are just that: rose and oud. All the while, the blue feels the sandy breeze, that oceanic, stony-pebble scent of excellent ambergris.
The compound alone is almost double the concentration of my own ‘Private Blend’. And Mystical Lotus alone is so good it’s become my new private blend, the perfume I’ve personally been using. Ask any OudFest attendee and they’ll tell you about my personal bottle of Mystical Lotus that’s always present.
The most exquisite flowers – blue lotus, rose, frangipani, and orange blossom drinking gallons of vintage sinking-grade ouds from a royal treasury that is now officially shut. Mystical Lotus is a heady, insanely dense, rich and extravagant to the point where cost was never a factor. Pretty much the only thing that prevents from doing more is that you’d end up with an attar too thick to spray.
Imagine heavy oud resin dripping from blue lotus petals. And the Ta’ifi roses and oud bubbling up from the bottom, that vintage mélange, and Kelantan at its core.
Mystical Lotus isn’t a casual spray. This scent dresses you in a totally different kind of style. It’s the kind of perfume that goes with a stylish blue croc leather suitcase and an elegant snakeskin jacket.…………

Mystical Lotus (batch 2024) is a dense, floral-oud parfum built around blue lotus, rose, vintage ouds and ambergris. It feels rich, heady, not for subtle wearers, but perfect if you want something special

Beautiful wear.
Mystical Lotus is extra ordinary, a swirling narcotic, a hypnotic if it didn’t keep pulling you in all dimensions. I got it the NYC Oudfest and could not believe how it transferred the Blue Kalbar into an enveloping world into which nothing can penetrate or bother you.
Monday blues was cheered up by the lovely blue Mystical Lotus…the combination of dense blue lotus, rose, floral, Pinoy… What a delightful mood-lifter scent.
I received this today and I just sprayed it once on my wrist. Wow!
I can’t describe what I am smelling, but I do recall silently mouthing the word “wow”. I have not had the chance to smell many of the exclusive ouds and florals that went into this semi-bespoke or Blue Kalbar which forms the base so I had no idea what to expect.
This is honestly on a completely different level as far as what I have experienced before from a spray “perfume”. As it was a blind buy, I went with the 15ml bottle. I may have to get another bottle of this narcotic scent as I have a feeling that 15ml will not be enough for me.
My sincere gratitude to Ensar Oud and whoever collaborated with EO to make this exquisite perfume.
