Description

Florals that twist themselves intricately into the bitter-resinous profile of sun-cured orange peel gracing the base of antique Chinese oud. The result? A spritz bursting with citrus zest, underpinned by the plush pollen-laced sweetness of aquilaria sinensis.

When working with Oriscent ouds, costs mount rapidly. At $2,500 – $10,000 per bottle, even micro-formulations for testing become extravagantly expensive. To produce even a modest volume of perfume using such revered distillations means risking the depletion of an entire batch.

Yet it’s the oud that forms the essence of the Oriscent aesthetic. And it’s the medicinal, bitter, kinamic quality that has elevated Oriscent ouds to cult status among the most discerning connoisseurs. To channel this aesthetic fully, the composition must be steeped – no, drowned – in oud. And not just any oud, but oooud…

That’s why composition boasts an opulent 50% concentration of oud, framed by a tapestry of scent notes that, until now, were reserved only for the few with privileged access.

Oud is traditionally a base note – not typically known for roaring projection. So when nearly half the formulation comprises oud, you’d be justified in expecting modest lift and limited diffusiveness…

You’d be correct – unless the carrier base happens to be proper ancient musk and a masterfully dosed infusion of the world’s rarest ambergris. Unless the oud is elegantly composed into melodic accords designed to awaken its spirit and project it beyond the skin. Bergamot, orange blossom, ripe peach, and the balmy softness of Santal Royale envelop the oud’s core – so when it returns to its full-bodied self, the result is a spritz that sings at full volume. A spritz flooded in sinensis oud, every note molten, bound together in the elixir called Hyang Kang.

Picture the sharp tang of freshly cracked mandarin peel, sprayed into a swirling mist of wild Hong Kong agarwood. That energetic clash soon mellows as it rains down velvety drops of tuberose, mimosa, and rose—petals scattered over a dance floor tiled in vanilla and tri-layered with oud… oud… and more OUD. The base is glazed in beeswax laced with a sophisticated touch of saffron’s golden warmth.

This glaze is further enriched by Japanese hinoki, which adds its signature semi-dry sweetness. The fusion emerges velvety and urbane, deepening the honeyed dimension of Chinese oud. But the sweetness isn’t synthetic – there’s no saccharine strawberry or candied fluff. Instead, it comes from the dark, sticky magic of Cederberg Hyrax paste: a coveted natural fixative that transforms any aromatic it touches. It morphs into orange blossom, red mandarin, and clings to the Chinese oud – just as that oud clings to Tibetan musk, both enveloped in waves of ambergris.
