It sounds obvious, but delve into a selection of roses, and it…

Description

In perfumery, rose is such a versatile and diffusive aromatic it’s hard to think of situations you don’t want to use it.

But it’s got to be a quality extract (achieved through the ripeness of the petals, the timing of the harvest, and the immediacy of the extraction afterward), which makes everything else better. I, for one, am delighted to finally have this caliber Persian rose in my atelier again to use the way I did in those OGs.

If you have experience with rose-oud melanges, you’d know what a massive difference both the kind of rose and the kind of oud make. It sounds obvious, but delve into a selection of roses, and it hits home just how drastic a difference the rose alone can make.

Compared to the bright white, more saccharine Ruh Gulistani, in this extract you’d notice a lovely herbaceous tone. I particularly enjoy this one because of that note since it’s unexpected in an otto – and it’s nothing like the darker, shrub-like herbaceousness you’d smell in rose absolute.

The scent is as bright and pristine as Ruh Gulistani and Ward Isfahani, so while the herbaceousness is subtle, it still stands out and gives you the sensation of smelling fresh roses just as the gentlest waft of petrichor passes by in the morning.
