This isn’t a perfume that plays nice…

Description

Private Blend has always had jasmine in it. It’s been there since the beginning, riding shotgun in the musk and spice, barely holding the brew together. This edition drags it into the driver’s seat and floors the accelerator.

Stop treating jasmine like the “pretty” part of a perfume. Load Private Blend’s musk trifecta – Tonkin pods, Tibetan grains, whole Mongolian muskus, funky leather – then feed the lot to the most indolic jasmine on earth. Then smell what happens.

No pleasantries. Hyrax paste black as tar, castoreum with its sharp leather snap, civet zinging on the edge, Sichuan pepper cutting through – and then the jasmine oozes through all of it, not pampering the top notes but moving up through the base until the jasmine makes the musk and civet and funkspice smell almost… clean.
Turns out the wildest thing in Private Blend wasn’t the civet.

It was the flower… dragged through beeswax and black tea, musked out and soaked in oud.

But which oud?

What if you could take EO’s most fromagian distillation – savory, fermented, resinous, smelling closer to aged chèvre dripping over overripe fruit than anything you’d expect a jungle to produce – and throw it in with jasmine already running indole-hot, musk already zinging, hyrax already as dark as it gets? That’s Nha Trang’s job in this bottle. Not to smooth anything out, but to make sure nothing gets the chance to.

Thick and dirty and narcotic. While most perfumery spends its life trying to civilize jasmine, Jazzfunk lets it run with the animalics.

Inside the bottle: 45%+ concentrate of musk-jasmine-animalic mayhem. Two sprays and you’re done for the day. You’ll catch it on your collar hours later and it hasn’t peaked yet.

I could have put this jasmine in something ‘elegant’. Something that rewards patience and unfolds politely. Instead it’s in here – with the Tonkin pods, the hyrax and the civet – and I’ll tell you it’s never smelled more like itself.

Jasmine didn’t need to be babied and finessed. It just needed more raunchy company.

Limited.
