The perfume scene has become a comfort zone. The few ingredients that ruffle any feathers are asked to leave the room, while the rest of the class all dress alike.Â
The reason you can’t enroll in any perfumery course to study the beauty of oud infused with musk and how such a fusion would dance with anything you partner it up with is simple: it doesn’t exist.Â
While some might have had the idea to steep vintage musk (or any musk pods) in wild oud, doing it takes two things few have access to.Â
Not only do you seldom hear about Tripura oud, most reading this would not have smelled any.Â
And Tonkin musk is officially extinct. Ask CITES or any fauna and flora group out there and they’ll tell you there is not supposed to be Tonkin musk on Earth. Several ancient texts mention it, and they consistently mention it being the most prized kind of musk, but they remain that – ancient references to a bygone substance.
That the Umayyads collection reached us after generations of Sultans stored Tonkin musk like gold is the only reason Tripura Musk exists.
It smells of suede and leather, rich and creamy, with a bite of spice piercing through. Denser than any Hindi you’ve smelled, yet like cream added to a scone, there’s this savory sweetness that seeps from the leather and the spice that blows my mind.
Tripura Musk makes up ~25% of Fera and I can’t imagine a more befitting combo to back up the sweet kiss of civet. Fera showcases what kind of magic this one-of-a-kind aromatic works in a perfume.
The Tonkin musk, of course, cranks up the tenacity of the Tripura oud in the same way it did with Ha Tinh LTD, and prolongs longevity. This makes it a fantastic oud to wear in hot and/or humid conditions, but also stunningly rich and warm on cold days.
Tripura Musk is a first for oud, a first for musk, and a first for perfumery. The zesty leather rooibos aroma makes it wildly addictive – and equally captivating. Diving deep into how, or what the musk does to the oud might just be the olfactory vacation your nose needs!

Oh man…this is soooooo gooooood.
You’re in a wide open field. You see the world through sepia-tone glasses. Wild grass grows tall and as far as your eyes can see, and it has been turned from green to dry gold by the sun. The soil is baked and warm, and it has a soft feel in your hands.
This is the image in my mind when wearing this oil. the musk adds a delicious sweetness and makes this a beautifully projecting and long lasting oil. A little goes a long way.
Zero off putting notes. Just pure calming and grounding bliss.
An interesting blend of deer musk and Hindi oud. The deer musk adds a plush velvety muskiness to the noble barn of the Hindi. Having smelt Fera I can absolutely see what role it plays in the composition. I would go as far as to suggest that if you own and love Fera, then this would only widen your appreciation.
