Roughed up with a cigar and black whale rocks, that it takes everything you…

Description

This is not a pretty scent (there’s not a single flower in here), nor is it meant to be. After all, Tigerwood was never a pretty oud.

You wouldn’t smell raw black Ambergris hoping for a rose, just like you wouldn’t take a deep whiff of proper Kashmiri musk paste and expect to stay conscious!

No, sir – Tigerwood Ghalia is, like the Pure Parfum edition, “Dark, masculine, extremely powerful and quite exceptional.”

This is an oudhead’s attar. A scent that’s so borderline all-oud, roughed up with a cigar and black whale rocks, that it takes everything you love about pure oud and fleshes out those very facets.

Discreet notes of black tea, black pepper, and clove accessorize a scent that is otherwise ALL BASE.

And that base, as you’d have guessed already, is loaded with Tigerwood oud.

The perfume edition has raw agarwood resin in the carrier, which adds a distinct veneer to the smell, especially in the opening. Absent in this attar, the way the fragrance unfolds is more direct.

You smell the Tigerwood right from the start. The sprinkling of black pepper and clove isn’t meant to complement the oud directly but rather the chords of coffee, cacao, and tobacco…

These, in turn, play on the oud.

Layers of oakmoss, Peru balsam, and patchouli fuse with Tigerwood’s inherent earthiness to create an incredible oud incense forest soil petrichor effect that smells so pristine it’s practically medicinal.

Of course, it’s possible to overdo the earthiness and end up with a murky mess…

Instead, that meditative earthy oud heart is bolstered with Bourbon vanilla and tobacco to give the scent a delectable edge and let Tigerwood’s purple floral facets (akin to the best Terengganu ouds) soak in notes of oud-infused leather.

A key ingredient in the Pure Parfum edition is black ambergris with its growling raw tenacity.

Often, ambergris would be tweaked for the carrier, not to impact the fragrance itself—a steroid meant to help with projection and diffusivity rather than be part of the scent. The same goes for musk.

Not at EO.

While other attars would otherwise simply ditch the ambergris (because no carrier is required), the Tigerwood composition depends on it! It’s part of what makes the fragrance.

Likewise, the musk – in this case, a formidable Kashmiri musk absolute which, if smelled neat, might knock you out like chloroform!

Instead of ditching the blackest ambergris and the potent musk, you’ll see a fat layer of them inside your bottle as they continue to macerate to make this Tigerwood a proper Ghalia. This gives those earthy oud notes a raw bite that makes people say this fragrance is “the most masculine, dark and oudy scent that I’ve tried from EO.”

Part of your fragrance journey involves the repeated encounter with the mystery miracle of oud. Just when you think you know oud, that you have a good grasp of all the profiles – you smell oud like Tigerwood, and a whole new scentscape opens up…

Tigerwood Ghalia takes you there to explore not just the scent of precious Tigerwood, which nobody to my knowledge distills (can distill) anymore, but also decks it out EO-style to give you a fragrance that’ll keep you swiping and guessing, swiping and guessing, and discover why this smell has been called “a perfect oud perfume.”

Featured Testimonials…

A deep, complex attar built around one of the best ouds out there, accompanied by black ambergris and kashmiri musk.

It opens with a dark, smoky richness, resinous and animalic; blending tobacco, cocoa, and coffee into a bold scent.
Intense and wild would describe it the best.

First of all, this is my first contact with an EO called Tigerwood. And although I don’t know the pure Tigerwood, I think I can easily recognize what it smells like from this masterpiece of Ghalia.
First, you are drawn into this beautiful, dense oud mist that is typical of Tigerwood, enveloping you in an intense smoky and leathery scent. Gradually, a beautiful blend of coffee and some cocoa joins in. The other ingredients balance this Ghalia perfectly, in my opinion, and there is a slight green hue that comes through from time to time in this dense dark mist.
The Tigerwood Ghalia definitely lives up to the term Ghalia and I can only recommend it to everyone.

Tigerwood Ghalia – Heat Wave Hero – is perfect for sweltering heat – 100+ degrees doesn’t faze it. Wearing it today feels like living on the edge, and while I was listening to Eminem’s Lose Yourself, I felt the aroma very personally. The body heat and sweat brought it to life, making it bounce off my skin in the best way possible. Black tea, realistic 2bacco, ambergris, oud, and musk come together to create a potent blend that’s truly unforgettable. It’s dark, daring, and intense, yet somehow manageable – fierce without being animalic.

I love Tigerwood.
