Description

EO Parfums have long explored oud’s dynamic interactions—with musk, ambergris, tobacco, and rare florals taking center stage. But this time, we’re turning the spotlight to oud’s trusted companion. Meet a sandalwood creation that doesn’t just push boundaries—it obliterates them.

If you’ve compared Santal Royale to the mass-produced sandalwood oils of today, you already know: the difference is night and day. Vintage Mysore, with its unparalleled creamy richness, makes contemporary batches seem hollow by comparison.

Through a rare stroke of fortune, we’ve been blessed with access to the finest oud, ambergris, and vintage musk from Sultan Qaboos’ royal treasures. But the crown jewel in this composition is three extraordinary sandalwood oils—each with its own distinct character.

One leans sweet, the second unveils a bitter-spicy herbaceousness, and the third radiates pure, creamy indulgence. These treasures, aged for decades, are the foundation of a fragrance that’s anything but ordinary.

The youngest among them—a thirty-year-old Timor—might still outshine most sandalwood oils of today. The temptation to create a simple soliflore to spotlight these raw gems was strong, but limiting their use to a small batch would have denied perfume lovers a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This isn’t just another sandalwood fragrance—it’s an homage to a bygone era, a tribute to rare materials that will likely never cross paths again. Just as Oud Royale gave you a direct glimpse into the Sultan’s private collection, Santal Sultan does the same, capturing the essence of these extraordinary aromatics.

The composition doesn’t stop at sandalwood’s glory. Bright citrus and jasmine amplify its sweetness, while cedar and pineapple dance with its zen, calming edge. Amber, patchouli, mimosa, and rosemary round out the creamy, gourmand facets, creating an addictive floral interplay that takes this fragrance to new heights.

Featuring vintage Mysore sandalwood to deepen the attar’s richness Santal Sultan lets you feast on a fragrance some have already called “the greatest sandalwood perfume ever created” in full, 100% concentration. It remains unmistakably Santal Sultan the parfum—everything that made it a masterpiece is still here, only packed into dense drops of sandalicious magic.

Featured Testimonials…

This is no ordinary sandalwood fragrance – it’s lavish, nuanced, and profoundly captivating. It holds a “weightless intensity” on my skin, giving me the perfect sandalwood fix while remaining airy and smooth, a fragrance that lingers without overpowering. For me the king of all sandalwood fragrances.

—Haider V / UK

I’ve been following Ensar Oud for years, and I’m thrilled to finally own two creations that I consider truly unique. Among them, Santal Sultan, which has proven to be one of the best sandalwood fragrances I’ve ever encountered—creamy, sophisticated, and enveloping, an absolute masterpiece…

I’m looking forward to continuing this olfactory journey with you!

—Antonelli N / Italy

I’m a fan of sandalwood and this is undoubtedly the greatest Sandalwood fragrance ever created!!

—Ali C. / UK

I’m starting to think Santal Sultan PP is the best sandalwood based perfume ive ever smelled at any price point. And ive tried many.

—Charles M. / USA

An extremely balanced composition making sandalwood as exciting as any other aromatic.

—Hamid S. / USA

Santal Sultan is the one and only Sandalwood I ever bought. I had to stop myself from wearing it today, to not run out of juice within just a month!

—Marvin G. / Germany

Santal Sultan: You’ll never be able to go back to fleeting synthetic “niche” sandalwood.

—Tony S.

Herbs and spices sautéed in butter is my impression. I have tried about 20-30 Sandalwood fragrances (it’s my favorite note) and none come even close to this IMO, it’s an absolute “Masterpiece”. This is what heaven must smell like.

—Joel L. / USA

I love SS; it is totally backup bottles worthy. However, I fully agree with those who claim there is a culinary stage in the development of the scent reminiscent of Indian herbs being gently sautéed in butter, I detect it during each wearing.

—Moon B. / UAE

Creamy, woody heaven with a beautiful touch of sweetness.

—Eli G. / Hong Kong

This is another crowd-pleaser from the house of EO. In my first couple wearings of the PP, I thought that this was just a very well done spray version of EO’s greatest sandalwood oils. However, with time I’ve started to appreciate the citrucy nuances scattered throughout the longevity of the juice which surround a luscious, sweet, and creamy sandalwood heart.

As you’d imagine, the extreme concentration of this PP makes it one potent beast with impressive longevity and projection. Half a spritz goes a very, very long way.

This is a perfect scent for newcomers to the natural artisanal perfumery scene. Likewise, I’d recommend this for a night out where you don’t want your perfume to be too intrusive for those around you..

Niche Sandalwood Perfume

My first ever full bottle Ensar Oud. To me, Santal Sultan opens with blast of bitter, medicinal herbaceous notes, but they quickly evaporates, what awaits are this creamy, buttery, slightly sweet sandalwood, mixed with ambergris and cumin-like rosemary, that gives this perfume a distinct warm feel with florals such as jasmine and mimosa surrounding the sandalwood. This is a complex scent. Pure Parfum is at 70% concentration, one spray is good to go for a long time. Truly a high quality gem.

Santal Sultan – Absolutely nuclear spicy and smooth sandalwood.

—Freddy Q. / USA

Santal Sultan is fresh, buttery, creamy and musky all wrapped in one. I get both Tibetan Musk and the musky scent from the old sandalwood. This is the first sandalwood fragrance that I’ve smelled that actually projects. It has an addictive quality to it. I’ve worn it every day since I received last Friday. I love it!

—T. Jackson / USA

I’m loving the Santal Sultan, it has a juicy citrus note in the opening with a blast of delicate oud, and a very distinctive cinnamon note with a hint of ginger as well. Plenty of jasmines, and a heavy dose of ambergris goodness. The sandalwood is creamy and vanillic, quite different than any other sandalwood I have ever smelled in the past. The overall composition is simply stunning and opulent. This is by far one of the most elegant scent profiles I’ve ever smelled.

— Ben / USA

Best Sandalwood ever, I’m repeatedly thinking of backup despite my financial shortfalls.

—Ashiqul S. / Bangladesh

This one has next level concentration. If I remember correctly 70%? 😯 … A milky sort of creamy feel and almost reminds me of kelantan Parfum. This one lasts a while!

—Aadam A. / UK

Santal Sultan PP: Kryptonite to racing thoughts.

—Johan W. / Sweden

Santal Sultan PP: citrusy opening with a very creamy heart and warm sandalwood.

“I say this without any sort of bias or anything but holy shit this is a reference tier sandalwood fragrance.

My mind is blown. And I fear the worst for my wallet now… more fulsome review will follow soon. But spoiler alert; it’s really bloody good.”

I own the PP version, but am not going to chime in with any comparative detail because it’s honestly the first LEGIT sandalwood scent I’ve ever encountered. I own Bois des Iles pure parfum, Lutens Santal de Mysore, Amouage Santal Attar, Xerjoff Richwood… all critically lauded but also criticized for not being “the real thing.”

What I WILL say is that Ensar’s blows them all away in terms of complexity. And at 70%, the scent hangs around to satiate the “performance junkies” (a new term I read somewhere). It’s not a soliflore, though neither are the others mentioned. Still, there’s enough sandalwood in this perfume composition to keep you high on a sandalwood fix for the long ride. Santal Sultan is far more rich and multifaceted than the Mysore Cologne that went out as a bonus some months ago.

Purest fragrance one can wear facing the Almighty on a prayer mat!

—Aftab K. / UK

[The EDP] is really wonderful and plenty strong for me. It sits on my skin like I would expect an Extrait to. Aged Mysore dominates the scent profile, but there is definitely more going on. There is pineapple and something musky. Maybe some spices. I’m not sure how much of the complexity I am smelling is from the outstanding Mysore sandalwood used or if there are other notes at play besides sandalwood and pineapple. It has a bit of a masculine edge. I am really, really glad to have this in my collection. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the EDP. I’m sure the PP is excellent too, but I have no complaints whatsoever with the EDP. It’s beautiful and addicting to smell.

— Joey / USA

I love the Santal Sultan I got in the mail yesterday so much I just had to get a backup bottle.

— Mark / USA

I’m absolutely smitten with Santal Sultan. Sandalwood was what first got me interested in scents many years ago, and this is such a delicious and deep representation of sandalwood. Somewhat shocked to say it may be the best contender for signature scent I’ve encountered in some time.

—Sam / USA

Currently my favorite Mysore sandalwood perfume that I own.

—Greg B. / USA

Getting some citruses and juicy pineapple in the opening, a touch of spices and patchouli, some cinnamon bark, a bit of ginger, then came the mimosa and jasmine in the heart, with a thick layer of ambery, warm, and very creamy sandalwood base, this is by far still the best Sandalwood perfume I’ve ever smelled, hands down, got a bit of old school vibe too.

—Ben W / USA
Tastiest, most perfectly-ripe, most dense, juiciest and sweetest pineapple
Fresh pink peppery, yellow-ish juicy nutmeg fresh spicy accord
Syrupy floral jasmine sweetness
Juicy jummy peachy lemony light spice coriander
Honey drenched yellow florals like champaca and ylang with jasmine sambac
Herbs like rosemary with unique twist
Creamy a bit cosmetic ylang-sandal base
I’m not able to get much creaminess from the sandalwoods in the opening, to me they are more prominent in the drydown.
Exotic, highly spiritual, happy.
Overall, by far the best sandalwood perfume. No other comes even close to be put in the same category of quality to be compared. Juicy exotic bright pineapple nutmeg yellow floral sandalwood. The Greatest.
—Florent F / USA

…truly narcotic 👌…

—Goran P / Sweden
…this beauty was my scent yesterday, and just to say, what a beautiful fragrance.
Very creamy, spicy wood, pure elegance this one, aromatic, green fragrance but, it’s so well blending, very versatile
The olfactory experience is amazing, very long lasting, this last and last forever, I am new to the Ensar world but I am glad that I could find this one has many people say the best sandalwood ever.
From what I’ve experienced so far, this and OSBK are the best ones.
Excited to try more
