Smell black tea in Malinau oud, figs and black pepper rolled in cigar leaves dipped in…

Description

The dark multifaceted tonalities, the ornate nuances, the chaotic beauty of it all falls silent as the true star now takes the stage. The one and only — Oud Royale, yes… The OG 1982 Maroke that started it all.

The elegance towers in stark contrast to the crowd below where elbows crack, heads clash, shirts tear in whirlpool mayhem as rockers spiral out of control. Earth mashing and crumbling, moist under their stamping boots. Tobacco, oakwood and a sea of Maroke oud resin, sizzling elegantly off Luciano’s tux.

The added gram of Oud Royale 1982 sings out like our man Pava’s tenor soars over distorted chords and a mad crowd moshing to the climax – no, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò! – his tie crooked, his tux ripped. Wild Cambodi oud, seashells, more Maroke oud.

Smell black tea in Malinau oud, figs and black pepper rolled in cigar leaves dipped in black resin for your Bohemian breakfast the morning after. One black eye, a bruised shoulder, ’O Sole Mio still ringing in your head.

Of the three perfumes in the Woke Morisco line, Moshpit Pavarotti is the darkest, most grungy, incense-heavy, with a sensual fig-meets-Thai-oud sweetness piercing through. As decadent as they come. Extremely satisfying.

If you thought Oud Rex: Terengganu was the King, with the added Oud Royale I (1982) Pavarotti just elbowed him aside and sat on his throne.

Saturday mornings Madame’Oud, my daughter Madmoiselle‘Oud and myself have music practice at church. We love to jam and we play pretty hard at times, so what better fragrance to enjoy on this hot, muggy June Saturday, down in the Bayou country of Louisiana—MOSHPIT PAVAROTTI of the WOKE MORISCO COLLECTION.
First thing we smelled was the intense smokiness of the tobacco and Maroke Oud, very dark and dense, with some green earthiness. But as it started to dry down, the harmonious blend of the Wild Cambodi oud that is already sort of sweet and jammy mixed beautifully with the figs. Than the 3rd oud is the Malinau, which gave it a buttery, vanilla touch that really set of the black tea. Nearly 6 hours after the application, the black pepper and woody notes are going strong. So overall, MonsieurMadame Oud think this one is worthy of a STAGEDIVE into the MOSHPIT!! MAKE THE JUMP!!

The juice color is almost pitch black, woah…I’m getting a blast of heavy firewood smoke in the opening, it’s a similar type of resinous and incensy smokiness in the Homeros OG that’s also in Qahwa Blanca. This is a very dark and inky scent profile, not getting any figs but I did get some damped black tea leaves along with the black peppercorn. Not getting any cigar or tobacco, the black tea is as close to it as I could get.

The oud here has some medicinal, camphoric, and bandaid vibe to it, this type of note always reminded me of Oud for Greatness. LOL With that said, this is what I imagined EO Black was supposed to smell like, It isn’t a very complex or sophisticated composition, but if you are craving for a very dark, inky, and smoky scent like I do from time to time, especially in winter, then this is the fix and surely will hit that right spot.

Do keep in mind, the Maroke oud resin here could potentially be perceived as ashtray or burnt coffee to someone (like Homeros OG did to some people), if you are not a fan of the smoke from Homeros OG, then you probably won’t like this. No doubt this is a polarizing release, but if you love that facet from Homeros OG like I do, then this will be right up your alley. For me personally, this is dark but a VERY cozy scent profile, I love the smell and feeling of being enveloped in firewood smoke every winter.

Edit: The inky dark smoke along with the bandaid oud was gone in about an hour, and two hours later, it transitions into a very beautiful light brown color hue dry down, reminiscent of Thai Tabac OG, with that Thai iced-tea or tobacco leave going for it, a slight hint of menthol and sweetness from the remnant of the oud, both the opening and the dry down are definitely my favorite from this collection. This is totally my type of jam, if I get to sample this beforehand, I would have sprung for the 50ml!

You know, I wore this one today and I’m 90% sure it’s my favorite of the three as well. I’m gonna give musk marisco a full days wear and that will determine the rest of that 10%. But moshpit hits all the right spots for me. Love it!

This is a sweet and smooth take on smoky oud. It’s a strong, statement-making fragrance, but it’s not a challenging scent. It opens like a smoke bomb. Bonfire smoke, but without a burnt woody smell. Just pure resinous smoky goodness. As it dries it takes on a sweet glaze and becomes a very alluring and cozy warm scent. It felt like a perfect fit for my leather jacket and semi-formal outfit tonight! This stuff is darker than the black leather on my jacket!
