*This harvest is an indispensable ingredient in creating EO Parfums. Due to the difficulty in replacing it, only a limited amount is available for sale.
Japanese rose oil is among the rarest essential oils in the world. It doesnāt take much to find the finest Bulgarian, Turkish, or French rose oil, but very few essential oil suppliers ever have Japanese rose oil in stock, including the most reputable companies in the world.
The harvests are extremely limited, and extraction costs are higher, while all the besotted rose-lovers and leading perfumers stand in line calling first dibs. In this case, folks have beens standing in line forĀ yearsā¦
It took us almost five years to finally have some to offer you again. And thatāt only after this batch of red rose was specifically commissioned by and extracted for EO ā it would not exist otherwise.
Rarity aside, Japanese rose is easily one of the most beautiful, soul-stirring scents on Earth. Enjoy its tenacious, piercing aroma that puts your nose up close to early spring petals in bloom. An absolute perfumerās delight, and a fragrance famous for stirring up romance at home.
If you scored one of the white rugosas, which we stopped selling a while ago, youād be keen to know that this harvest is most similar to the original Japanese rose which sold out in 2019ā¦
What makes rosa rugosa such a treat is its red character. If you love rose oils, youād know that ottos are generally yellow/gold in profile (and color), distinguished in degrees by a certain citrus/lemony not that is more pronounced, more dense, smoother or sharper, depending on the freshness of the petals and the quality of the extraction. A fine rose otto is as good as rose oil gets.
To have a red otto to contrast the ethereal, citrussy beauty of its brighter kin, makes you both appreciate the variety of roses out there, and also allows you to explore their different nuances.Ā

Waiting for a flight and had put on a dab of the Japanese Rose that you recommended. First time Iāve had a chance to wear it. Out of the bottle it smells like a pretty rose with an interesting melange.
It is the strangest thing however. I used just a touch on a wrist and it has just kept going (3 hours now) and I keep picking up a barn-y lotus-y rose which smells like Pink Papua to memory. Is this what you get when you smell it? Pink Papua had that same strange ambience of humidity in its scent. Not sure how else to describe it. Am baffled but in a good way š āMuriel / USA
Japanese Rose is not only rare it is unique. Itās not ārose” as you know it. It may have wafts that are āorientalā as a Taif rose does, but they are not spicy or peppery, they are for lack of a better description very Far Eastern.
There is an orange note in there very much like the scent you get from orange peel sweetened by pulp. Then a smoothness and body of bamboo and cactus. There is a bitterness thatās fleeting thatās very much shiso leaf. Itās quite a delight to wear andĀ develops with time. I also enjoy how it reminds me that itās an ingredient in Sultan Musk. āJasim / Dubai
After taif rose this has to be my second favourite rose. It is very light and sweet perfect for those who can’t handle challenging scents.
It opens up with a similar greenery as an Indian rose or istanbuli rose would, but immediately shows you how soft and beautiful it is within the next few seconds.
Added these two absolutely stunning Japanese oils to my collection. Rose Kazanlak and Japanese rose. Aside from artistry, they are absolutely stunning and gorgeous oils.
