Description

Many people, even those who love jasmine oils, were probably not aware that the essential oil from these yellow Italian jasmine petals exists.

Jasminum humile is not only one of the more fragrant varieties to grow in a garden, but its yellow petals make it quite distinct from more widely sighted white flowers. J. Humile oil, on the other hand, is not a quick find.

Once you filtered out all the cheap jasmine ā€˜fragrance’ oils (i.e. blends of different aromatics; not neat or even real jasmine) sold under the tag ā€˜Italian’ jasmine, you’d be surprised at how unavailable it is, even from recognized and reputable essential oil companies.

When I met the Calabrian producer in person, I was overjoyed by the smell and the opportunity to share this wonderful jasmine with you. With that berry-like sweetness of a fine sambac, this Italian jasmine has a polleny glaze that makes the sweetness both less acetic and smoother than the more common Indian or Egyptian varieties. This smooth pollen sweet aroma is also more discreet than the earthier, more shrubby scent of grandiflorum absolute, while its beautifully ethereal fragrance could easily be worn as a perfume in itself.

…this oil is such a joy! It has a beautiful golden berry-like opening and settles into a classic pollenated yellow/white jasmine note that is both easily accessible and complex enough to be worn as a standalone scent.
I’ve found a touch of this blends beautifully with swipes of rose and orange blossom, creating a beautiful juicy berry/apricot accord and adding a lush feel that replicates the fleshy juiciness of the fruit! Another favorite pairing is big swipes of both Jasmine and Red Champaca, creating a scent reminiscent of the wonderful Kinam Rouge.
