Isnāt it strange how oud and musk seem to always walk hand-in-hand whenever youāre looking for one or the other?
Sometimes ambergris tags along, but every oud lover at some point seeks out the trail of musk, while those who have been smitten by the odor of raw musk inevitably fall in love with oud.Ā
When theyāre together, magic happens.Ā
Magic cast through different spells: The potent urinal bite of Russiaās kabarga jives differently to skanky Kashmiri which seems a bit rough set against the bitter, herbaceous sweetness of Mongolian kudari.Ā
Itās especially the tantalizing bitterness of raw Mongolian musk that begs to be dunked into oud and demands to be turned into a sensual royaleĀ aroma.
Musk and oud go together like Jules and Vincent because they tug at and awaken the same primal desires in us. Many would say it’s exactly because of that pull that thereās such a massive market built on their counterfeits.
The Mongolian musk in this perfume looks and feels like a vintage, well-worn leather pouch thatās seen the world. The leathery skin is almost black, thin and smooth to the touch but tough to cut. Inside, the grains are still moist. The pods are easily a century old; likely even older.Ā
Mongolian Musk isnāt just a perfume thatās out to show off muskās pizazz. Iāll say it again: itās not the musk itself but the magic the musk works on the dancers around it!
And hereās where things get interestingā¦
There are smells that never existed, but now do ā people two hundred years ago could never have smelled oud from Rayong. Then there are smells that once existed but now donāt.
And then there are scents that by all accounts do not exist ā or ought not to exist anymore ā but through some rip in the fabric of time do: the musk thatās in this perfume is one of thoseā¦
Thatās one of the miracles of the age we live in: the chance to discover a smell like this, a fragrance that never existed, never could have existed, and today shouldnāt really exist ā but it does. And itās yours to indulge in.

Oozing amidst the musk and the oud and the decades-old Sultani sandalwood and the black tea and honeyed carob, thereās a unique touch that makes Mongolian Musk truly Sultani: An attar made by Sultan Qaboos himself.Ā
The attar is one of the most limited aromatics Iāve ever had to work with, probably because the Sultan could never have known that his own attar will end up in your perfume!Ā
I havenāt smelled something quite like it before and incorporating it into a perfume was challenging. Even the final iterations went through several drafts because of how the attar interacted with the composition.Ā

But the struggle aside, the Sultanās attar allowed me to create a fragrance I wouldnāt have been able to otherwise. And specifically how it plays on the bittersweetness of the Mongolian grains to create the rouge effect that I find to be among the most addictive sprays weāve ever put out.
Then again, it also has to do with the musk-oud affair; that feral invitation to a more natural, yes even animalic world that strangely feels like home. A sweaty musky sultry allure some would pretend not to like because it goes against mainstream sensitivities ā but behind the doors, they canāt stop sniffingā¦

I rarely wear the same perfume 2 days in a row.
Ā
Mongolian Musk has broken that trend.
2 days in a row, it’s been my SOTD.
Ā
This was not total love at first smell but a delightful gradual buildup and I must say it’s now intense.
Ā
The cinnamon, honey, carob tree and black pepper hits your nose on first spray.
Ā
The Musk and the Oud in the base tickles your nose throughout the life of this scent, and yes it lingers tantalizingly.
Ā
This is one scent well blended and that I throughly enjoy.

Indole lingers in the air. Right now, my garden is filled with blooming lilies. The conditions are just right ā time for a few solid shots of this great musk.

Perfect for Autumn or winter. But itās even better in higher temperatures! Cannot get this one, out from my head!

Mongolian Musk by Ensar Oud is truly special. Itās rich, smooth, and animalic, with a beautiful mix of musk, soft animalic notes, and gentle florals.
Perfect fellow especially for this weather.

This is too good. It’s a beautiful chocolatey, sensual, and animalic musk. The musk is animalic, but you will definitely keep on sniffing it, very addictive. It’s definitely suitable for the night out. I think it will show you its different characters and personalities in different weather.

Overall assessment:
Ā
This is an update or overall assessment on my initial impressions above. This fragrance blended so nicely and it’s so complex. You will get lots of honey, cinnamon, and that beautiful chocolatey musk. I did get a raspberry-like note or feel to this (this raspberry note or element faintly reminded me of Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather), but as the fragrance progressed it became more clear that it was perhaps the cinnamon and honey giving that impression. The cinnamon and honey combination in this is so sexy, it gives of this berry-like aura, specifically raspberries. This is a sweet and elegant fragrance; the chocolatey musk feels like as if you are adding chocolate shavings on honey.
Ā
Beautiful stuff!

Wearing this for last two days and every time I have sprayed it blew my mind!
Ā
In the beginning, I got some sweet florals like with some sweet spices. But it developed into something more mysterious and beautiful. It develops to sweet little vanillin and floral Ylang Ylang is clearly noticeable. With time progress this composition moves to something beyond my capacity to be explained I think that SQ attar did the magic. Component musk, sandalwood, oud, incense, florals, spices all start to play together. It is quite hard to decipher as almost every time you will detect something different keeping that floral and sweet spice note as a constrain.
Ā
Drydown is a magical symphony of sweet note, oud, sandalwood and musk!
Ā
Probably will take the best musk throne from Tibetan or Tonkin musk to my nose.
Ā
It is very potent, not very challenging and has a monster longevity.
Definitely a bottle worthy!

Ensar Oud has done it again!
Ā
Another masterpiece in musk. First came EO2 and Private blend, then came Tonkin and Tibetan and now Mongolian musk.
Ā
This has such a sophisticated feel, sweet but not a gourmand perfume by any means. It has a lovely hint of honeycomb and cinnamon, heaps of sandalwood plus Thai and Indian Oud. All this is resting upon a bed of musk. The musk in this one starts out animalic and then becomes almost truffle like, chocolatey in some ways. The musk gives the entire composition a really classy powdery like consistency. I also get a slight raspberry like feel to the fragrance also.
Ā
This is the sort of fragrance I envision someone at the opera wearing, or at an upscale event. It screams generational wealth!
Ā
Pleased I got a 50ml and not 30ml!

For all Musk-Fans out there this one is a must have. It starts with a sweet honey and cinnamon combo which is very strong. Alongside you can notice sandalwood also without overpowering the scent. In the background Mongolian Musk is getting more and more musky-animalic. As the time goes on the sweetness fades away and you start to notice a second animalic note but not barnyard: Indian & Thai Oud. The composition switches in the end between musky and oudy with a powerful longlasting projection. Not for the faint hearted!

Finally I could get my hands on the new Mongolian Musk perfume , so why not sharing a little first impression:
Ā
First of all I think the description on the website is matching perfectly to this scent.
Ā
“A sweaty musky sultry allure some would pretend not to like because it goes against mainstream sensitivities ā but behind the doors, they canāt stop sniffing⦔
Ā
And yeah once youāve sprayed it you canāt stop sniffing it.
It opens slightly sweet with a touch of spices, a fusion of creamy sandalwood and the chocolat-sweaty Mongolian musk.
Ā
This super dark brew is indeed very different compared to all the other musk scents that Iāve smelled so far.
Ā
Iāve read that some people experience this perfume as too sweet and heavy on cinnamon but I think that everythingās properly dosed and blended. A very balanced and powerful musk experience with the perfect amount of animalics (for my taste).
Ā
1 spray on the arm lasted over my entire shift at work (7,5 hrs) and I think if I wouldnāt have taken a shower at the evening I could still smell it.
Ā
Overall a great release.
Ā
Iām sure a few of the almost 2800 people in here have ordered it as well, Iād like to read some of your thoughts on this release.
Ā
UPDATE:
Ā
So here we go, 3 sprays around the neck and Iām asking myself if this was a bit too much ?
Ā
Mongolian Musk has always been a very strong and potent scent but it seems like it got even more intense with time.
Ā
The opening blast of cinnamon, musk and sandalwood. The sweetness of the musk gets rounded up by a touch of honey and a nice tea note of puerh.
Ā
The super animalic brew gets complimented by Indian and Thai oud to fulfill this incredible blend. Mongolian musk is not for the faint of heart, it gives you everything that you expect from a musk and itās one of these super addictive luxurious smelling perfumes that gets you hooked on at the first sniff.
Ā
Like Iāve mentioned in the past : Once youāve sprayed it you canāt stop sniffing it.

The latest release in EOās iconic āMuskā lineup does not disappoint.
Ā
Right off the bat I want to say that there is nothing in this perfume that struck me as off-putting or challenging. I wouldnāt think twice before wearing this around others because it is a deeply enjoyable, approachable scent.
Ā
It opens with the warmth and spice of black pepper softened by a sweet honey/vanilla combo. The musk and vanilla sweetness combine to create a beautiful creamy chocolate feel.
Ā
Puerh adds a beautiful tea facet to this, while the sultanās attar must be behind this deep spiced richness. The heart of this fragrance is sublime – warm spicy, smooth and creamy, sepia-toned deliciousness.
Ā
The dry down is all about this smooth musky sandalwood. Indian agarwood plays a supporting role, with the Agallochaās creaminess bolstering the sandalwood, and the tenacious honey and vanilla are creating a very warm sweetness.
Ā
An extremely refined, warm, personal scent. It could be elegant in a suit & tie, or could be right at home next to your fireplace.
Ā
Be not afraid of the musk!

The fragrance opens with a rich, chocolatey burst of cinnamon and carob. (Carob, a sweet and earthy fruit resembling cocoa beans, is sometimes used as a sweetener or cacao alternative in Mediterranean and Balkan cuisine. It was one of my grandmother’s favorite baking spices.) As the initial notes soften, the scent starts transitioning back and forth between distinct yet overlapping phasesāhoney-sweetened earthy puerh tea, creamy ylang-ylang, and layers of various ouds. Throughout, an amazingly natural deer musk note emerges, steadily intensifying and weaving through the composition.
Ā
Hours later, settling into a blend of oud, musk, and sandalwood, the fragrance becomes less sweet and more animalic, though never overwhelmingly so.
Overall, this is a wonderfully cozy and warm fragrance, perfect for colder days.

This is the spicey sweet cinnimon/chocolate type of musk that I like. What is so well done here in my opinion is the way the musk is kept clean smelling with an almost citrusy feeling. My favorite type of musk blend. Can be worn in warmer or cooler weather. Stays strong for the whole day.

This is undoubtedly one of my personal favourites. Easily a top 5 composition in my mind, hitting the perfect balance between chocolatey musk, honey, and sandalwood. Black tea notes hold the whole thing together. This is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Lovely. Can’t say enough about it!

How does pure Mongolian Musk Grain smell like?
=> it is a sweet-taste musk type of scent, very simple.
Ā
How does EO Mongolian Musk Pure Parfum smell like?
=> it is a sweet-taste musk but adding creamy, bold, thick feeling to it, very complex yet enjoyable.
Ā
It is very smooth sweetness musk that can daily wear for 30 days straight on with getting bored. Now come to the complexity of this perfume, I can scent sweet floral but not powdery type, sweet vani, floral spicy ylang ylang but also sweet, sweet chocolateā¦ā¦ a little bit of everything but overall this concoction is very addictive surrounding a sweet musk…

This is more than a fragranceāitās an olfactory portal to a forgotten world. Mongolian Musk dares to be raw yet refined, primal yet regal. The interplay between the musk and oud creates a mesmerizing dance, while the addition of
Sultan Qaboosās attar adds an almost mythical dimension.
Ā
Itās bold, animalic, sensual, yet it whispers sophistication. This is a fragrance that doesnāt just sit on the skin; it becomes a part of your story, drawing you into its intoxicating allure.
Ā
A scent for those unafraid to explore the wild elegance of perfumeryās most coveted treasures.
