Description

Black kynam is any form is extremely rare. It differs quite a bit from other kinam types like White, Green, or Red. The resin is can get jet black and feels dense.

If you do manage to find genuine black kynam/kyara, you’d most likely find it in the form of small pieces, often shavings or cuttings from a kyara bangkle or bracelet (which can range from $500 – $2,000 per gram, depending on quality). At best you’d find a small sized solid chunk. A slab like this? I’m 100% sure you’ve never seen anything that comes even close…

The scent profile is gently bitter, with a darker smoky, earthy notes. You’ll detect the sharp, signature kinamic resinous bitterness, but with added hints of dry tobacco, medicinal roots, and faint citrus – still, these appear subtly within a mostly dark and intense aroma. Black Kinam lacks the bright or sweet notes common in other kinams to make way for the ‘blacker‘ tones.

Kynam of this caliber forms deep within the heartwood over decades, in conditions that limit moisture and oxygen. That’s why it is extremely rare; most agarwood trees do not produce kinam, and even fewr produce black kinam, and pretty much all existing pieces are usually from old harvests. And no matter how far back in time you go… a piece of black kynam this size is unheard of.

When heated, black kinam doesn’t burn quickly but melts slowly to release its bitter-noir aroma. Due to its rarity and unique profile, it’s mostly collected by connoisseurs who understand its value and complexity and heated kodo–style. Nobody would dare use it casually.

Easily one of the most precious pieces of agarwood on the planet.
